Wow, terrific tutorial - a bit beyond my skill level at the moment, but maybe in the future I will try it...
I'm glad you like it! Give the gradient mesh thing a try. If you can do vector work, this will be easy. Looks harder than it is.

Great tut!, ive never used illustrator before today, and I saw the effect you had done, and I wanted to do a VB bottle, and it came out much better than I had hoped!!
Just used the same techniques on the shape I wanted :)
Then i saw your wasp, and am going to try better the appearance of the bottle :D

This is quite good, and very helpful for anyone who does not master gradients too well.

I just stumbled upon this site and am very happy to learn about this tutorial, with this I can learn more about Illustrator. Got the program but I've been sitting on it not really knowing where to start and what to with it. Thanks!
